DBrown meets Diddy

Wassup You'll,

Yesterday my dreams came true. If you know me you know that I am in love with PDiddy. He is my idol. I admire his style and mostly his business ethic. He started as an intern and is now an entreprenuer. He is a Music and Fashion Icon and I strive to follow his steps to success.

Yesterday Diddy and his Dirty Money group stopped by 106 & Park to drop off their new video for the single "Angels". Album is due to release in December. I had the pleasure of being formally introduced to him.

Check out the video:

While Diddy was in the building he threw out fake money and in the process his ring flew into the audience.
At the end of the show they did not allow anyone to leave the studio while they looked for the ring. Unfortunately they did not find the ring. Someone is going to have a great christmas. However I love you Diddy.

DBrown Meets Melonie Fiona

Last week I bumped into Melonie Fiona and I just had to introduce myself. She came to 106 & Park to drop off her video for her new single "It Kills Me". This song is soooo real. The song is about a relationship gone wrong, and the difficulty in turning away from someone your so deeply inlove with. The song gives me goose bumbs and her voice is amazing.

Melonie is a Singer and Songwirter from Toronto, Canada and was born in Guyana, From hearing her sing you can tell that she is inspired by the Blues and Neo Soul. She has a soulful and powerful voice. Her album "The Bridge" will be available November 4th.

Check out the video:

Please make sure you get this album.

DBrown in the "Daily News" giving back to her community

Hey people,

Just incase you missed this, I am not only into Fashion and Music. I am also into giving back to my community. Before I became a stylist, In 2007 I worked for the Bronx based Non-profit organization, Citizens Advice Bureau,  as a College Advisor/Mentor/Dance Instructor. I tutored teenagers, prepared them for college and introduced them to the Fashion & Music Industry. One student in particular,Nassou Camara, I assisted in receiving the Bill Gates Millenium Scholarship. This scholarship awarded her full tuition and book money for her undergraduate studies, graduate studies, and PHD. Due to this successful achievement her and I received some publicity. We were interviewed by the "Daily News" and another local newspaper.

Spotlight on Nassou Camara

BY ETHAN ROUEN
Tuesday, August 7th 2007, 4:00 AM

Nassou Camara (l.), 18, with education advisor Dina Brown, has been awarded a Gates Millennium Scholarship for college.
Hard work pays off, but hard work plus good work landed a windfall for Nassou Camara.
Camara, 18, was recently awarded a Gates Millennium Scholarship, which will provide her with a full college scholarship and money for graduate school.
"I'm looking forward to using that money to educate myself and help the people in my community," she said.
Camara, who lives in Morris Heights and will attend Albertus Magnus College in the fall, dreams of becoming a U.S. senator, but her public service began years ago.
"She's into so many things," said Dina Brown, education adviser at the Citizens Advice Bureau, who nominated her for the scholarship. "She's very determined to fight for her community, and not just her culture, all cultures."
At 14, Camara started working at the nonprofit Harlem Children's Zone, helping to make a documentary about West African immigrants in Harlem. In addition to joining the student council and the social action club at the Community School for Social Justice, she also works now for Justice Works, a Bronx-based nonprofit group.
Camara can talk fluently about Rockefeller drug laws, wrongful imprisonment and a slew of other issues.
"Anything dealing with education, academics and the civil rights of students in her school, she stands up," Brown said. "She's the voice."
It was obvious that Camara would continue her fight after high school, but it seemed like money would be a huge hurdle. She was offered partial scholarships to several schools, but she couldn't afford her first choice, Magnus.
At Brown's prodding, she filled out the 30-page Gates scholarship application in a week, briefly putting aside her other hobbies, the exact kinds of experiences the judges were looking for.Camara spends most of her free time reading and helping her community and, when she's not, she said she's searching for injustice elsewhere because, "There's always something you have to fight for."

Mashonda confronts Alicia Via Twitter

Hey World,

I went to Honeymag.com Changing Of The Guard VIP Cocktail Party on September 24th at Collective Hardware. I must say it was a fabolous event. I ran into many fashionistas and Fashionistas. I even met up with my boy who is the Co-owner for Brian Wood Clothing Line. At the event Pace Witty the stud king was in the building studding peoples, jackets and vest. You can check out his work at http://www.honeymag.com/message/blog/view.castle?g=804972&m=7479283

Also at the event I bumped into Mashonda ( Swiss Beatz wife) although she did look stylish and beautiful she did look a little sad. She is still married to Swiss Beatz who has been dating Alicia Keys. I love Alicia Keys indeed but I just dont think that her and Swiss make a good couple *what happened to Krucial Alicia Keys highschool sweetheart). Rumor has it that Mashonda has been trying to reach out to Alicia to discuss the issue and feel that Alicia Keys broke up a happy home. I just dont understand how this become Alicias fault. Swiss is the guilty one. I hate it that men always get away with cheating (smh.) Anyhow Mashonda has reportedly confronted Alicia Keys via twitter.

Check out what she said:

“After having a great evening with my son and enjoying some fun twit chat, I decided to sign off and get some work done. However, a few hours later I was advised that I should check @aliciakeys twit page. I’ve never reached out to her on twitter before. I feel our issues are a lot more serious than a website conversation. Not to mention that I’ve reached out to her many times in the beginning of this whole thing, as any wife would do. Unfortunately, I never succeeded in getting a response. The 1st time I meet AK, my husband introduced us to each other at an event. ( I have no choice but to call him my husband, until he is not anymore) In the messages that I sent to her (AK), I made it very clear that on the contrary of what she might be hearing, I am still married to my husband, living with him and just had a child. [It’s] been two years and I still have not received a response. What I do receive, is constant displays of selfishness and disconcern to me and my son.
I was a fan of AK’s last album, we were both signed to J Records and I always checked up on her projects. I sang her songs and admired her for creating Superwoman and Karma, I would never deny her, her talent. I believed in her until I found out she was possibly sleeping with my husband. The affair was denied by both, until it was finally admitted months later.
Already I can hear some of you saying ‘why are u blaming her, You cant make someone leave their wife, You cant break something thats broken.’ Well, my marriage was not broken, as far as I knew we were celebrating our sons birth and getting ready to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary. Call it blind love, whatever. I call it being a devoted wife. As far as me blaming her and not blaming him, [that’s] false. Me and my husband have worked out our differences. We are in a good place as people and as parents. I accept his choices and I am comfortable enough with myself to move on. I am so very blessed in many ways.
My concern with AK is no longer the fact that she assisted in destroying a family but that she has the audacity to make these selfish comments about love and wanting to be with someone, even after knowing their situation. How is this the same Superwoman that I sang out loud with in my truck? I ask myself sometimes.
If you are reading this Alicia, let me start by saying, you know what you did. You know the role you played and you know how you contributed to the ending of my marriage. You know that I asked you to step back and let me handle my family issues. Issues that you helped to create.
I’m not saying everything was perfect all the time but no relationship is perfect. We made a vow to God and I believe you should have respected that, as a woman. I know you owe me or my son nothing but I just wish you would’ve handled things more carefully. I’m not judging you, I put you and the whole situation in the hands of God, the Higher Power. Just know that as a woman, I expected so much more from you. I never had intentions on reaching out to you this way but after reading your twits tonight, and the constant disregard, you left me no choice. I feel that after 1 and a half years of you hiding this affair and acting like it [doesn’t] exist, that now is the time to confront it, since you talk so openly about it now
This is not a publicity stunt, I [don’t] have a record coming out. I just need to close this chapter in my life and that means confronting our issues. There is a small child involved. His dad loves him to death and he wants to spend more time with him but [he’s] afraid because he knows we don’t have a relationship. This is my main concern. My son NEEDS his dad and I NEED to be comfortable with you. For him!
I know many will see my point and many will not be able to look into what’s real because they only want to see Alicia Keys the celebrity, not the human. This is not for the [‘people,’] this is for you. Like I said I was left no choice but to reach out to you this way. By now, [I’m] sure you want to find a balance in this as well.
I read your tweets tonight and I felt they were very insensitive. You have no idea how much pain I was caused because of this affair. It’s baffling to me that you don’t understand what I might have gone through with this situation. I dont consider myself a victim anymore, I’ve learned a lot from this! I just ask you to try and be a bit more realistic and delicate to the situation, at least until my divorce is final. I felt me attending the party would have been a starting point for us, since you shook my hand after I offered it, but I suppose I was wrong.
If [it’s] so, that you and my husband are meant to be together, then God bless you both and I hope you never have to deal with what I did. I would not wish it on my worst enemy. If you two being together forever is the case, [it’s] more of a reason for us to get along, because I’m not going anywhere. [There’s] child to be raised.
To answer your tweet, choose smart over spark. Sparks burn everyone, be smart! [It’s] simple actually, just think of the shoe being on the other foot.
Stay blessed and [let’s] work this thing out with respect and dignity.
I dont know Mashonda, I feel your pain but I think this is something you need to handle with your husband Swiss.
