I CUT MY HAIR

So guys I finally did it. On friday, September 19, 2008 my life changed. (LOL) And I am so in love with my new look. Change is good guys sometimes its hard to do, but when its for the better the aftermath is refreshing. I have been saying I was gonna cut my hair for about 6 years (No bullshit) but I never had the balls to do it until friday. I went to a hairstylist:

Michelle White
J'rdin Hair Studio
2311 Adam Clayton Powell Blvd.
Bet. 135th & 136th
Harlem, NY 10030

I must say Michelle is the bomb. I was so nervous that I went to meet her the day before to have a mental session with her. Really to see her in action. She was doing this other lady hair and she hooked her shit up. I told her the look that I was goin for and she told me not to worry she would give me a real edgy look. Thats exactly what I needed. I am a designer for god sake. I need to look the part and your hair plays a major role in your appearance.

When I went in on Friday I had butterflies in my stomach. I even printed out pictures. I wanted the Kelis cut. I sat in the chair and when I started to describe it all I heard was (shhh, shhh, shhh) She was just cutting away. My heart almost stopped, but it was a pleasurable pain. When she was done I was very pleased with the out come. Michelle White is the way to go ladies. She is mean with the scissors and can style her ass off. Thanks Michelle for making me feel like a new women. (LOL)

CONCERT IN ALBANY, TIMES UNION CENTER

So I am so excited to share this with everyone. on Saturday, Sep. 14, My homeboy and his promotional company Loyalty Entertainment organized a Back to School concert in Albany at Times Union Center. LL Cool J, Keisha Cole, Neyo, 50 cent and G unit performed.
So here is a run down of the event. Although 50 was the last performer, I have no choice but to begin with him. He had the best performance and had the crowd hyped. The highlight of the performance was when 50 performed his first single from his new album. (LOL) Check it out!

50 straight played Kanye West. He mocked his "Love Lockdown" song and performance. After performing this song he stated, "So this is what you like? This the type of shit you like? You see what happens when you dont fuck with 50? You see? This is what happens? But I forgive you" Even though I actually like this Kanye Song, it was hilarious!

The best part of the show I was part of. 50 called for 2 girls to come up on stage with him and I was one of them. I was a little confused when he pointed to me but when I finally came to reality, I said to myself. "Here is your 3 minutes of Fame!"(I'm telling you it must have been my Prada blinged out glasses that caught his attention.) Any how by the time I got on stage he was freaking the other lady. I started dancing on him but when I realized he was focusing on the other girl, I decided to take over the stage.(LOL, I had so much fun.)

( I KNOW, I KNOW, IM CRAZY!!!! LOL)

The show was very exciting although the stadium was not packed and could have been held in a smaller venue, all of the artist that performed were amazing! LL Cool J definetly surprised me. He was the first to perform. He is old as hell but still looks and performs like he is 17. (OK maybe not 17 but he looked Damn good!) He had on a red EXIT 13 t shirt promoting his new album. The bling on that shirt was bananas.

(DAMN LL UMM!!!!)

2nd up was Keisha Cole. She also did an amazing job. When she was performing, I was focusing on her male dancers. They were excellent. Whoever choreographs for them, KUDOS to you! Keisha Cole's voice has improved so much. She ended her performance with a song dedicated to her mom about when she abandoned her as a little girl. It is a very emotional song and you can hear and feel the pain in her voice.

Finally there was Neyo. Neyo made sure that everyone in the audience knew the songs tht he wrote for different artist (He played (Beyonce) Irreplaceable, (Jennifer Hudson) Spotlight, and (Take A Bow) Rihanna just to name a few). His performance was also amazing. However I have to give respect to his dancers that did not miss a step and wore the some very stylish outfits.

I really enjoyed this show!!!!!! (Good Job Loyalty Entertainment)

FASHION WEEK

Hey Everyone,

So Fashion week is just about over and I am a little ashame because I didnt get to attend any Mercedes Benz Fashion Shows. :-( I have got to do better) I am new to this Blog thing but part of my inspiration to do a Blog was because I was researching how to get into a fashion show and they said If you are part of new media which includes bloggers. So I said Hey I wanna be a blogger maybe ill have a better chance of getting in. (But I think I started too late! LOL) Maybe next year.

Well even though I didn't get to go to a fashion show in Bryant Park. I did attend the ArtFul Dodger Collection Launch.

Here was the invite:

Very creative with the graphics.

This was really nice. It was at the chelsea museum and they had mannequins as displays with some of the designs from their new collection. Signiture Apparels Sari Beaz was responsible for the PR for the event and she did a wonderful job. Artful Dodger was purchased by Jay Z for 15 million dollars and him and Iconix are respoonsible for the companies marketing. Artful Dodger switched up on their image moving towards a real high end brand. One of the peices that stood out to me was a grey suede blazer with sequin, and embroidery design on the back. It was hot.

Check out some pic of Artful Dodger's new collection:

(Here is some back info)

Day 1
On Monday, August 18th 2008 I recieved a personal call from KRS1. He called me to thank me for designing 2 shirts for him. The night before JP & I stayed up until 3am designing these shirts. I was frustated because I went around the whole bronx looking for a good quality black and purple tshirt. I finally found them and got straight to work. Imma be honest because I was not pleased with the results it was not one of our best creation, but I didnt want to disappoint my mentor (BET Connect) so I sent it to BET the next morning. KRS 1 was doing a BET Hip Hop week special and wore the shirts. I have alot of respect for KRS 1 because of the few stars that I personally designed for, he was the first to call me and say thank you. I was told that he called each designers and companies that sent clothing for him.

Much Love KRS.

Day 2

On Tuesday, August 19th 2008 I went on the set of 106 & Park 2000 show celebration. It was a crazy stylish show. Some of the celebrities that stopped by to perform were Keisha Cole ( who I must say looked so amazing, she slimmed down and appears to have fixed her gap. Lets go Keisha!). Ray J (fine ass). Lil Bow Wow, Pretty Ricky (No Comment!) and Young Berg just to name a few. I had the pleasure of meeting Young Berg and I must say he is a little (I emphasize on little meaning short ) cutey. He was very friendly and down to earth. Hope fully I can work with him in the near future as I build my Dbrown Designs Brand.

Day 3

On Wednesday, August 20th, I went to Jameel Spencers ( A Well known Fashion and Music Industry Marketing Guru, He ran Blue Flame which was Diddys marketing company and now does marketing for Rocawear, and Artful Dogder) Birthday Party @ Taj. Taj is a very grown and sexy environment, located on 21st bet. 5th and 6th. Every Wednesday the fashion and music industry executives party there.

We arrived at the spot about 7, It was a real chill spot, lights low and a fashionable crowd. I gotta say if you ever hit this spot up you have to try their buffulo wings (Delicious!!). Anywho, the music was tight, and the drinks were right. Amongs the crowd I spotted some celebrities such as John Sally ( Actor & Retired Basketball Player) rocking a white blazer some jeans and sneakers, he looked stylish and comfortable. Also celebrity stylist June Ambrose, of course always looking fab!

I was waiting for the birthday man to step in the building but of course he was fashionably late. He rolled in at about 10:30pm. (FYI its a industry after work party so its from 7-1) So he steps in looking fine with his well tailored suit and bow tie. At about 11pm Im tired and ready to head home. I step off to use the restroom, and head back to my table. Just as we were ready to head out Jay Z stepped in the building. Tall as ever he walks past me and gave me a look. (It must have been the bling dancing in my prada glasses. LOL) Any how that made my night!>>>
