FASHION WEEK 

Fashion Week is one of the most exciting and Fashionable times in NYC. Fashion Week occurs Twice a Year, at the top of the year in February and the end of the year in September. Fashion Week 2012 will occur during February 9th - February 16th. This is the time of the year when designers showcase their upcoming lines to the public and industry tastemakers. The Official Sponsors of Fashion Week is Mercedes Benz and it usually takes place in Lincoln Center for all the Top industry Designers. However, the Urban and Independent Designers use this time to showcase their work as well. Fashion Shows and presentations occur throughout the City.

"LifeStyle Spotlite": Lauryn Hills Daughter Selah Marley Rips the Runway and enters the modeling world

Those who know me well know that I am the biggest Lauryn Hill fan. From her music, fashion, beauty and just intellectual thoughts I deeply admire that women. I am always researching and looking into what she is doing and what she has coming up. Today I came across some very interesting news, her daughter Selah Marley from one of the Marley's Rohan Marley, is easing her way into the modeling world. I must admit she definetly has the natural beauty and glow from her mother and believe that she will succeed.

"LifeStyle Spotlite": Forreduci Clothing a United Kingdom based Urban Brand

Forreduci is an independent fashion label that was inspired by three friends who wanted to bring a new dynamic to urban fashion within the UK.

The aim was to get enough critical acclaim within the streets of London to expand as an established brand not just a t-shirt line or gimmick, but to set trends by bringing fresh new designs to the streets of London and beyond, that could be worn with the confidence and pride knowing that it’s a British designer brand. They started retailing exclusively online in 2005, opened first store in south London in October 2009 and started a VIP home shopping service October 2011. From this they were able to have a direct platform to communicate with their customers with the focus of building the brand identity and keeping it real.

The Forreduci brand has expanded international and has been spotted on celebrities like Soulja Boy, BET's 106 & Park Terrence J, and The Game just to name a few.

November 29, 2011 - May 8, 2012

The Great Designers, Part One is the first of two exhibitions that highlight masterpieces from the Museum’s permanent collection. More than fifty garments and accessories are featured by designers from Alaïa to Zoran, including work by Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel, Christian Dior, and Miuccia Prada. Full portraits of all exhibition objects will be included in The Great Designers: Fashion’s Hall of Fame from A to Z - the accompanying book to The Great Designers, Part One and The Great Designers, Part Two - which will be published early in 2012.

"LifeStyle Spotlite": Prinze Naki Eyewear

Accessory trends are becoming more and more popular every day. From Stylish Handbags to jewlery to now eyewear it seems like everyone is trying to get a taste of a stylish piece. My first glimpse into stylish eyewear designs have been those of Grace Jones, Madonna, Beyonce and Rihanna. At first they were hard to get a hold on but more and more designers are picking up on the trend. I met a really talented eyewear designer. Here is his story:

Naki Carey is a Washington DC native who is merging quickly in the Fashion and Entertainment industry. His interest began in 2006 at a High School Fashion Show then later on  he branch off to modeling, Not soon after that he became a Runway Instructor, Creative Coordinator (Working behind the scenes) and Photo-shoot Director. June, 2010 was the Mark when he started to create "Over the Top" Eyewear pieces. He started by using miscellaneous pieces around the house and turned the into work of art. Naki plans on bringing the industry nothing but Creativity and Over The Top Designs. "SO BE READY TO BE BOLD"
